Yoga
Overview

Yoga literally means to "yoke," or bring together the mind,
body, and spirit.  Yoga derives its philosophy from Indian
metaphysical beliefs. The word yoga comes from Sanskrit
language and means union or merger. The ultimate aim of
this philosophy is to strike a balance between mind and
body. To achieve this, yoga uses movement, breath,
postures, relaxation and meditation in order to establish a
healthy , lively and balanced approach to life.

Who is a good candidate for Yoga?
Anyone wanting to slow down and deeply connect with
them self. Although a rigorous yoga style done with loud
music is very popular these days, yoga was really intended
as a meditation in motion. Synchronizing movement with
breath in harmony with a focused mind. That is the spirit in
which I teach yoga.  Yoga can be more challenging
mentally than physically because it’s quiet and internal and
it reveals how you are to yourself……and that can be scary. If
you are up for the challenge of facing yourself you are a
good candidate for yoga.

If I am not flexible can I still do yoga?
Yoga is really more about excepting however flexible you
are and breathing into the body fully. This full and
expansive type of breathing creates more flexibility in time.
The breathing invigorates the body, awakens the mind,
calms the nerves. The breath is the key, the poses the
vehicle for the breath. If your ability to get into the poses
fully is hampered by tight muscles it doesn't matter
because the focus is on following the breath. Anyone can
do that who can focus.

The Body Repair Shop offers yoga privately. Any pose can
be modified to your abilities.
